The Arab headscarf is a traditional head covering worn by men in Arab countries; known by names such as *Keffiyeh* and *Gutra*, it originated in desert environments to provide protection against the sun, wind, sand, and cold.

Typically made from cotton, gauze, or silk, these headscarves often feature decorative elements like embroidery or openwork. While originally available only in white or beige, they now come in a wide range of colors, with specific hues often signifying social status in different regions; for instance, in Oman, headscarves featuring red, blue, and yellow are reserved for the royal family, whereas ordinary citizens wear only white or plain-colored ones.
